What's new in the Hotel?

Howdy gang,

How's everyone doing? Did everyone have a good summer? It's been awhile since the last update, so let me fill you in on all things Hotel

First, I've started the third, and presumably final, book in the series. The working title is "The Elevator at the Crossroads of Everywhere" and maaaaybe should be released around April? May? Hopefully sometime before the summer.

I actually wrote an outline this time, gang. Can you believe it? My editor and I spent time reviewing the outline and fixing plot points before I wrote them. It's crazy, I know.

So, book 3 is well underway. The plan is to have the first draft written by New Year and hopefully get it to my editor by around February or March.

I'm really excited for this book. Not to be all Robert Jordan, but I had the ending planned since the very early days and I'm so excited that I managed to get the team across the finish line.

In the interest of wetting your appetite, let me answer some of the most common questions I get about Book 3 of the Hotel. Please note that until the actual book is finished, all of these answers should be interpreted as "to the best of the author's knowledge, however subject to change"

Q: Will Vain be in it?

A: Yes.

Q: Do we learn more about the Hotel and Eventide?

A: Yes.

Q: OMG I love Trick so much

A: Yes.

Q: Who would play Vain in the movie?

A: Emma Roberts.

Q: I can't wait!

A: Me neither.

In other news, let me share with you what I'm reading.

Is this going to be my favorite short story collection of the year? Yes, easily.

I was lucky enough to receive an advance review copy of this and was I ever glad to get it. It's rare for me to enjoy so many stories in a single collected volume, but this really is a spectacular collection, filled with heart, horror and some of the most inventive and brilliant writing of the year.

I am going to just describe this as my friend put it to me: The antagonist in this book is trauma.

Five stars.

That's all I've got this month!
